Abused by several family members from around the age of three or four, Rebecca Ross lost a large part of herself during her early childhood. Little Girl Lost tells the story through poetry of how Rebecca tried desperately to hold onto that part of herself, but eventually the hand of the little girl slipped out of her grasp and the person split into two individuals. As one half continued to grow and put up walls of protection around herself so that pain and misery could not hurt her anymore, the little girl remained behind in her agony – wondering why she was unlovable and left alone.

Rebecca started writing these poems at an early age and continued into adulthood. She hid her writings from her abusers, yet she still lost some that were found and destroyed. However, with the help of God, Rebecca held onto most of the poetry and kept it safe so that it could be placed lovingly into this book.
